  1. Start with small talk: Ask how they are and what they have been up to lately.
  2. Share your news: “The reason for my call is I wanted to let you know about something important to me. I’m planning on going on a mission trip to [INSERT PLACE] in [INSERT TIME].”
  3. Explain the impact: “This trip will be a chance for personal and spiritual growth, and I’ll also be serving the community and helping those in need. My team and I will work with an organization called [INSERT ORGANIZATION NAME]. We will serve the community during the day and work on our faith in the evenings.”
  4. Make the ask: “I’m raising funds to cover my expenses and would appreciate any support you can provide, either financially or through prayers. This experience will not only impact those I help but will also shape my future. Can I count on your support?”

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be going on my first mission trip out of the country in [INSERT MONTH]. I’ll be traveling to [INSERT COUNTRY OR CITY] to serve the community and partner with [INSERT ORGANIZATION NAME].

Through Metanoia Missions & Ministries, my team will assist with ongoing community projects and immerse ourselves in the local culture. This experience will also provide personal growth and deepen our faith.

“We may not all be called to missions, but we can all help when called.” Every donation helps, no matter how small.

Thank you for your support!

Blessings and love,

Fundraising Ideas

  1. Calendar Fundraiser/Pick-a-Number Board: Create a calendar with days assigned different donation amounts. Ask family and friends to pledge amounts. Once all days are claimed, you reach your goal.
  2. Social Fundraising: Set up a crowdfunding page. Promote it on social media and include photos and details to tell your story.
  3. Sell Stuff: Sell items you no longer need. Host a yard sale, list items online, or ask friends if they’re interested.
  4. Host an Event: Consider hosting events such as an auction, movie night, dinner, karaoke night, ice cream social, or game night. Ensure friends understand these events are separate from personal contributions.
  5. Raffle: Organize a raffle with donated items. Sell tickets in person or online.
  6. Storytelling: Share your story and mission details through writing or speaking to connect with potential donors.
  7. Odd Jobs: Offer to do odd jobs for friends, family, and neighbors.
  8. Loose Change Collection: Collect loose change to create awareness and conversation.
  9. Parent’s Night Out: Organize a childcare event for parents to have a date night. Provide a safe environment and ask for donations.
  10. Sponsorships for Local Charity Work: Perform local charity work and ask for sponsorships. Donate proceeds to your mission fund.
  11. T-Shirts and Bracelets: Design and sell custom t-shirts or bracelets. Order based on collected orders to avoid excess.

Remember, fundraising is crucial for your mission experience. Start early, track your progress, and stay focused on your goals!

Southwestern Advantage Summer Script (If applicable)

Successful fundraising can be achieved through selling educational resources during the summer. Here’s how:

Choose a product or two (typically a tack-on item) and use the profit for your mission trip.

“Mrs. Jones, I also have a product I’m showing families where all of the profit goes towards a mission trip I am attending to [INSERT PLACE] in [INSERT TIME]. It may be something you would be interested in for yourself or as a gift. [Show the American Encyclopedia of Cooking or the Nat Geo Biblical World Atlas]”

Occasionally, Mrs. Jones may even donate additional money to help you reach your fundraising goal. If you use this method, be disciplined about setting aside the profit or money collected to remit to Metanoia Missions & Ministries.
